Part of the Czartoryski Museum is built into the city walls of Krakow. Being skilled at visiting museums on their free days, we went without much expectation, but thoroughly enjoyed Da Vinci’s famous Lady with an Ermine (perhaps the first truly modern portrait) and many delightfully weird antiquities. It was easier to be a collector in the old days. A trip to the Museum of the History of Photography (also free, of course) rounded out a lazy afternoon.
We’ve been in Krakow almost a month, and still haven’t exhausted the museums in town. Not even close.
