Don’t be alarmed; this is not your typical Polish country home. This picture is from the Dom/Home exhibit by Polish photographers Andrzej Kramarz and Weronika Łodzińska. Taking pictures of people’s homes may not sound so exciting, unless you seek out obsessive collectors (like the ‘Hunter’s living room’ seen here), monks, pilgrims near death in Varanasi, Egyptian girls who sort through giant trash heaps on the edge of Cairo, immigrants in soulless concrete French housing estates, or the bunk beds of alcoholics living in the local homeless shelter. Kramarz has also done the Things series, which appeals to my industrial aesthetic.
I still have a tough time with photography as an art form, but this was compelling stuff.
