With this view of Table Mountain, you’d never know that the De Grendel winery is tucked behind an oil refinery.
We picked up a lovely Sauvignon Blanc, and another bottle of the Shiraz that Evan & Helen had served up to us on one of our first Cape Town dinners. The tasting experience was low-key and friendly. The wines were delicious. The prices were under $10 a bottle.
At first, I was happy about being in wine paradise. Until I realized that it would ruin my enjoyment of most of the rest of the wine world. Damn you, South Africa!
