I’m no expert, but I’m thinking this is a Huntsman spider on the wall outside our apartment. If it is, what a weirdo. A spider that doesn’t weave webs? With a ‘timid bite’, but still able to ‘enter the cabins of vehicles, causing much alarm’?
Australian insects seem to programmed differently. If a fly latches on to you, it does not go away, even if you walk away, or smack it a few times. They are persistent beyond reason. And if your screen door isn’t perfectly sealed (like ours), you can very quickly open a ‘living ceiling’ exhibit in your apartment at night-time as the bugs hone in on your lamps.
