Pic of the Day: November 7

The Black Saturday fires left their burn marks on the forests surrounding Melbourne. On a day when temperatures hit over 46 degrees celsius, with winds over 120 kilometers per hour, fires raged across Victoria in February 2009.  It was the worst day of fire in Australian history.

These giant Mountain Ash trees survived.  Walking through the Dandenong Hills National Park, you can see the recovery is well underway.
