We did look online to see pictures of Gillespies Beach in the sunlight. But where’s the fun in that? After a half-hour’s drive on a teeny twisting forest road, it was much more exciting to experience shades of bluish-gray melting into each other at the edge of the world.
The beach used to be the location of a huge gold-mining town, with many taverns. Only the graveyard and a few campers in VW vans remain.
