I doubt that you’d recognize Ella’s darkened head from the back, but this picture is proof that we did reconnect with our colleagues from Örebro, Sweden for a little desert touring in Arizona.
We stopped at Montezuma’s Castle National Monument on the way to Sedona. The name is wildly inappropriate–it’s from a thousand years before Montezuma, who was never anywhere near here–but the cliff dwellings are impressive all the same.
What I love about my Scandinavian colleagues are their direct, honest assessments of everything. If there’s an incomprehensible sign, or pointless display, they won’t sugar-coat it. But if a view of the Sedona valley is truly breath-taking, they will inform you that it’s beautiful.
