The maze of Marrakech’s souk is legendary. Guidebooks advise travelers to pay for a guide to keep from getting lost, and as protection from aggressive shopkeepers (and other guides). Not only didn’t we get lost – thanks to Sharon’s trusty compass – but the local merchants weren’t as in-your-face as you’d expect.
The shopping opportunities are endless, but we left town with barely a candle-holder. It makes a difference if you have to carry it across the next four countries yourself.
