In Kazimierz (our home neighborhood in Kraków), there’s no shortage of cafés and bars. Here you see the Allens trying to perfect their new Bohemian lifestyle, where JP pretends to work and Sharon pretends not to look at anybody else’s dog. No longer of this world is the decadent iced coffee, more whipped cream than beverage.
This nearby café, Les Couleurs, is on the trendy Plac Nowy around the corner from our place. During the day, it’s a fresh produce market. After dark, the square is packed with bar-hoppers lining up for the famous street snack from Communist times, the Zapiekanka. Kind of like a Stouffer’s Pizza on a baguette, covered with ketchup and mayo, but it’s manna for Poles on a bender.
