A big disadvantage of being married to a geek is that you’re often forced to visit museums like the Museum of Municipal Engineering in Kraków. Samples from the proud history of the Polish car and motorcycle industry were in abundance, not to mention the separate annex for retro electric tram cars! Geeks also like the history of printing, if it includes cool machines with keyboards, lots of buttons, punch-card-like paper programming rolls, and ends by showing how computers dominate everything.
Rumor has it that Sharon did, in fact, enjoy looking at her favorite car, a prototype that opened up the front “face” of the car to let the driver in… why wasn’t this car put in to production, she wonders?
One thing that the Allens can agree on, is we like our retro advertisements. Check out these two ads that are clearly targeting two very different markets. On the left is a lovely va-va-vroom girl in thigh-high leather boots – she needs something fast & sporty. On the right is a babushka (yer old lady, the ball n’ chain, you get the idea…) who needs something more reliable, with a bit of cushioning.
