What is your trout doing on my bacon? No, what is your bacon doing on my TROUT! A lovely mountain trout is a welcome break from routine cheese & uh, meat (wait, isn’t bacon?…) in our usual Polish fare. I know that a lot of our buddies are Fans of Bacon so, feast your eyes on this fish with the requisite lemon, butter and fresh horseradish. Bacon, btw, is a delish topping on pierogis, and we even enjoyed crisped bacon bits (maybe skins) suspended in lard as a tasty (albeit fatty) spread for your peasant bread — the ‘rich man’s butter’.
After this dinner, we waited patiently in our hotel room to make space for our Cheesecake made from Twarog (since I love cheesecake, and based on a recommendation from my Polish cuisine guide Daniel). As per usual, the Allens managed to eat well that evening.
