Pic of the Day: October 1

The changing huts for bathers on the shore of False Bay.  Nearby are water slides, an old-school mini-golf complex, a wading pool no one uses, and other seaside necessities from days gone by.  With over 20 km of white sand beach, though, who really cares about the services?  The waves made it one of the early centers of South Africa’s legendary surfing scene.

All this just a few minutes drive from the city.  No wonder Cecil Rhodes’ holiday cottage was around the corner.  He just couldn’t drag himself away.  Literally.  He died there, happily by all reports.
